If there's already an identical item (eg make, or pk-config, or gcc) in the PATH, then someone must have put it there - and the intent therefore is that the pre-existing item be used in preference to the one provided by Strawberry. The practice of having the msi install append the relevant directories to the PATH is a long-established one. I really don't see any need for Strawberry to do anything differently. That location is prepended to the PATH only when portableshell.bat (which is located in the "location of your choice") is executed. > Ifeffit at .gov>īruce Ravel - bruceravel1 at gmail. If you're worried about having Strawberry always in your path, install the portable version to the location of your choice. > Industrial Doctorate Centre in Molecular Modelling and Materials > Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I do not have any Windows computers at home. I am still furloughed due to the shutdown of the US government and unable to go into work. Make sure that after you have run the uninstaller that you also manually remove any files still left behind in C:\strawberry or where ever things got installed on your computer.Īs I said a couple of weeks ago, I am not able to do much more than this to help with a Windows specific problem. My advice is to purge anything having to do with any version of Strawberry from your machine and start from scratch. If you have installed some other release of Strawberry *and* my package, I can imagine that weird things could happen. My package is built using a specific version of Strawberry. > have tried both the x86 and 圆4 version, I have an 圆4 system) > I have tried installing the latest version of Strawberry Perl (I This is not clear at all to me and I don't have any Win8 machines to play with. Following the instructions given in the link above to move GnuPG below Strawberry Perl has resolved the issue. The software it was conflicting with was GnuPG ( ) which presumably uses MinGW. ![]() After a bit more digging it's turned out that the problem is a variant of the one described here: ![]() Sorry for any confusion - the installation of other versions of Strawberry Perl was carried out as a diagnostic step after Demeter failed.
